October 8th, 2009 at 1:54 pm
@jon Actually there are quite a few people that died this year that are more important than everyone on this list combined. My grandfather died this year and he’s not on the list, and I consider him to be more significant than anyone on any list. This is just a small grouping of people I made of the nearly 56 million people that die each year. If you’d like to compile your own list that you can refer to and keep updated on a daily basis, be my guest and post it here… otherwise, have a nice day.
Also, thank you for showing everyone how simple-minded you are with your little outburst. It was quite entertaining.
October 11th, 2009 at 5:24 am
Stephen Gately is shocking to hear about. Poor Boyzone boys! I’m shocked at how long the list is already…but convinced it’s not complete yet. I feel this year more have died than any of year

@mista … I hope you’re actually serious. It would be disappointing if that insane mentality you’re showing right now is not genuine and is just a joke. So entertaining to think there are actually people like you out there

December 20th, 2009 at 5:37 pm
I just heard that 32 year old actress Brittney Murphy has died. It’s always sad when a young person dies. Reports says she went into full cardiac arrest. Sorry to hear that. It isn’t like the death of, say, kronkite and kennedy. they were old enough that you can celebrate their lives and know they lived full ones. A 32 year old who was hoping for a baby in the coming year is a darn shame.
December 20th, 2009 at 5:45 pm

Ms. Travers was the most popular female folk singer from the sixties and who has never strayed away from her support and beliefs in political and social causes.

How about Ellie Greenwich? She wrote amazing songs back in the 60s with songs like “Be My Baby” and “Baby, I Love You,” the Shangri-La’s “Leader of the Pack,” the Dixie Cups’ “Chapel of Love,” Tina & Ike Turner’s “River Deep, Mountain High” and the Crystals’ “Then He Kissed Me” and “Da Doo Ron Ron.” I know some of you music aficinado’s know her but those who don’t she was someone too.
I do agree MJ should be #1 on list and Paul Harvey should have been on list!
December 21st, 2009 at 1:19 pm
@ DMichaels – E. Lynn Harris’ books were about being on the DL -”down low” life – not the Double Life. I guess you didn’t read any of his books. Yes, he should have been on this list.
This has been dubbed the year of celebrity deaths – I’ve never heard of so many significant young actors dying in one year before! Very sad; hope 2010 is better for Hollywood!

Sad how much people car about famous people and how LITTLE they care about our soldiers sailors and marines, this country has no moral focus. I am sad about the taco bell dog and didn’t the puppies from last years Puppy Bowl, which is what they have before the super bowl all die, from like parvo or something?

It is nice way to show respect for the passing of famous people. My problem is you didn’t show all who have passed away. I know most of your readers won’t know Gail Storm, but they might remember Harve Presnell from tv’s Superman.I remember them and it would be nice if you included them & any one else I might have forgotten to mention. Gee! You mentioned a porn star.
Thank You!
Cher

December 30th, 2009 at 9:12 am

Its sad to see all these special pass away ..But has anyone ever mentioned anything about our brave men and women who lost there lives in combat…
January 10th, 2010 at 9:20 am
I think that all of the deaths are so, so sad
However (and this is just my opinion) I think that two of the saddest (they were all equally sad, however these were two that stood out the most) were the depressing deaths of Patrick Swayze and Natasha Richardson. Some of the people on this list died of natural causes (ie, Ed McMahon), some were murdered (ie, Steve McNair and Jasmine Fiore), some had cancer (ie, Patrick Swayze and Farrah Fawcett), and others of different things, such as aneurysms, asfixiation, car, motorcycle, and skiing accidents, suicide, etc. It really is a shame to see that such big stars died of various things.
January 10th, 2010 at 11:44 am
also brittany murphy .
January 10th, 2010 at 2:37 pm
Three others who made an impact passed away and apparently have been omitted. Ironically each of them had long careers, but will be remembered for one particular roll.
Pat Hingle – a wonderful actor in movies, tv and theatre will be remembered as the Police Commissioner Gordon in Batman and sequels.
Henry Gibsen of Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In, where he recited a poem each week.
Al Martino, singer of ballads, who’ll be remembered for the role of the wedding singer in “The Godfather.”
What else did they do?
Pat Hingle played Dr. Chapman in “Gunsmoke” and he played the lead role, Job in the play, “,J.B.”
Henry Gibsen was Judge Clarnce Brown in “Boston Legal” and the unctuous country singer Haven Hamilton in “Nashville.”
Martino was singer from early 50s to the mid 70s. His most remembered ballad was “Spanish Eyes.”
January 10th, 2010 at 10:27 pm
